We all know we should be eating healthy to stay at our best. But most people don’t understand the whole importance of eating healthy.
People forget that what they eat fuels their body and has a direct impact on their health and fitness.
This should not something that you tell yourself you will start to eat healthy and then never get around to it.
It is something that needs to be done and you have to start now!
I understand that eating healthy means different things to different people.
When I say healthy eating, I am talking about having a balanced diet or fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fats, and proteins.
I am not referring to a specific diet. I am talking about eating healthy in general.
Now, if you are on some sort of diet, that is ok. All of this information is still going to apply.
What is important is that I am going to walk you through why this is so vital and how you can actually change, to make eating healthy a routine.
As you know there are many benefits to eating healthy, but the problem is, many people lose sight of these benefits.
I am going to list a lot of great benefits here and I want you to take your time reading them.
Commit them to memory.
And ask yourself if you would like to experience any of these benefits.
By changing your eating habits and eating healthy, you could expect to see:
Better Mental Health
Lower Risk of Cancer
Improve Heart Health
Maintain Healthy Levels of Cholesterol
Better Blood Pressure
These are just many common benefits, but it should show you the importance of eating healthy.
We are going to get into how what you eat impacts your health and fitness.
Although these two are directly linked to each other, I am going to discuss them separately to help break up the information I am going to give you.
Just keep in mind that they are connected and also affect each other.
How Eating Healthy Affects Your Health
From looking at the list above, you can easily see how your health can be affected in many ways.
Your eating habits now are going to have a lifelong impact on your health.
I can’t stress this enough because I hear from people all the time saying they should start eating better or are going to eat healthier, but they never actually get around to doing it.
So, I am going to repeat that last part.
What you eat now will affect the rest of your life! Make the commitment now. Understand the importance of eating healthy and it could change your life.
This is not me being dramatic or saying if you eat a burger every once in a while, you are going to have bad health down the line.
I’m not saying you can’t indulge occasionally. I do. But there are so many people that eat out several times a week and eat a lot of processed foods on top of that.
I see the appeal of these foods because life is busy, and it can be hard to get healthy food fast.
But having all of that bad food really adds up over time.
It might not seem like a big deal now, but you can really take a hit to your health down the line.
And the goal is to live a long healthy life.
So, that needs to start with what you eat.
How Your Fitness is Affected
Eating healthy affects your fitness in many ways as well. Remember, we are talking about the importance of eating healthy. It carries over into your fitness as well.
If you are trying to get in shape, lose weight, or maintain your overall health, this is extremely important to note.
Think of the last time you had a really unhealthy meal, such as fast food or Chinese takeout.
What did you feel like after eating?
Probably not super motivated.
I’ll be honest. After I eat an unhealthy meal, I am not motivated at all.
And there is no way I would even consider wanting to workout.
What you eat fuels your body.
It gives you energy.
When you eat right, you feel better and have that energy to do more.
Be consistent and you will feel like you can take on any challenge that comes your way.
There are other ways you can be impacted as well.
For example, say you are working out but are not really watching what you eat. This can have an impact on your results.
If you are looking to build muscle, you diet needs to have an adequate amount of protein.
All of this is also vital as you get older so you can continue to live a healthy life without needing extra assistance.
What I mean is, taking care of your body now could put you in a better position in your later years.
For example, you keep your bones and joints healthy, so you don’t require a walker or cane. Or you eat right so you maintain healthy levels of cholesterol and blood pressure, so you don’t need medication to maintain it.
That is a lot to put on what you eat, and I am not saying if you eat healthy you won’t have any problems.
It is just important to remember that it all starts with what you put in your body.

Eating Healthy Tips

If you have read any of my other posts, then you know I am all about giving tips to make things easier and help you stick with your goals.
If you are serious about eating healthy the first thing you should do is make a plan.
Decide how you want to tackle this goal. Do you want to do it in small steps like working to cut out soda?
Or are you more committed if you go all in and get rid of the junk in your house?
Plan what you feel is going to work for you.
Then you should get healthy items in your house.
Even if you do not get rid of all your junk food right off the bat, having healthy snacks to pick from will help transition you.
You should also start to cook at home.
This is a huge tip so I will repeat it.
Do some home cookin!
If you aren’t comfortable in the kitchen yet that is alright. Like I said we are going to work on that and get you to a point where you can easily cook at home.
And even enjoy it.
