We constantly look for ways to make our lives easier. How to get the best bang for our buck. Save time. That is why appliances are always changing and becoming more versatile.
We previously talked about how great air fryers are, in the post Why You Need to Get an Air Fryer Today. I explained how they can be a nice addition to your kitchen.
Well, here we go again but with the Instant Pot.
If you are anything like me, you probably have a busy schedule and the last thing you want to do when you get home from a long day is spend and extra hour or so cooking. If this sounds like you, then an Instant Pot is going to be your new best friend!
What is an Instant Pot
If you aren’t really sure what an Instant Pot is, that’s ok. It is a kitchen appliance with about a dozen different functions. These modes can include soup/broth, eggs, meat/stew, slow cook, rice, steam, multigrain, cake, sauté, and keep warm, all in one. It is primarily a pressure cooker. This means that your cooking time can be sped up by 2-10 times faster than other methods.
- Offers several different functions
- Saves space
- Saves time
- Retains Vitamins and Nutrients
- Food tastes great
- Simple to use
- Has a Delay Start function
As you can see there are many benefits to having an Instant Pot. The many different modes offered, which I have listed above, shows how versatile the Instant Pot is.
There are countless foods you can cook with just this one appliance and it allows you to replace several other appliances you might already have. Or it can save you from having to buy multiple appliances.
This can also help you save time in multiple ways. The Instant Pot can cook foods faster. You can get that slow cooker effect in a fraction of the time.
As I mentioned before, it can be 2-10 times faster than using other cooking methods, such as your stove top or oven. Just imagine what you could do with that extra time!
It does take time for the Instant Pot to come to pressure and to release pressure at the end. However, you can set it and forget it.
I am a multitasker, so I love the Instant Pot for this reason. I can throw dinner in and work on this blog for example. There is no need to keep watching it to make sure anything boils over, I don’t have to stir anything, or adjust the temperature.
That means you have time to do other things while your food is cooking!
Using the Instant Pot can also help reduce your clean up time. You do not need multiple pots, pans, or appliances to cook your meals.
For example, you could sauté garlic, add chicken and veggies, and set it to pressure cook. No extra dishes are needed. And let’s be honest, no one likes cleaning up after cooking.
Retains Vitamins and Nutrients
Since the Instant Pot cooks your foods in its own juices, it turns out tender and retains more of the nutrients than boiling or using the microwave.
I was so surprised the first time we made ribs in the Instant Pot. The meat was so moist, it just fell off the bone. I don’t think I have ever had ribs that have been better than making them in the instant pot.
Easy To Use
It can take some time to get used to using the Instant Pot, but generally it is not hard to use. If you are using any Instant Pot recipes, they tell you exactly what function to use.
When in doubt, you can use the manual function to cook pretty much anything. With all the functions it offers, it tends to scare people off so they only seldom use their Instant Pot.
I know they first time I used mine, I was a little intimidated, but the more I used it, the easier it was and the more I loved it. So don’t be afraid to just jump right in and try new things.
Like many great kitchen appliances, there are many accessories you can get for it that can make your cooking experience more enjoyable.
I know a lot of people like to know what is available for their appliance, so I wanted to share with you some of the nice options you can choose from to use with your Instant Pot.
They are not necessary to have, but they can make it easier for cooking certain items.

Many people like this cover for their cooker. It is an easy way to keep your Instant Pot from becoming dusty, and if you keep it out on your counter top, makes it look a little neater.
