Everyone has an ideal weight they would like to reach. One of the main problems with weight loss is that it can be a lot of work. That is why many people quit before they really get going. What many people don’t realize, is that there are many easy weight loss tricks to help you lose weight. You just need to use several of these simple hacks to see some results.
And what’s better is that they are things you can stick with. They don’t take a lot of work and anyone is able to utilize these tips.
1. Portion Control
This is one of the easiest tricks you can use to help you lose some weight. Most people do not realize just how large their portion sizes are.
To help with portion size some people go as far as to weight out their food. But this is about keeping things simple!
So, the technique others use is to put the amount of food they normally would take on their plate and then take some back off. Thus, making their portion size smaller than usual.
The easiest way I think to control portion size is to just buy smaller dishes. Most sets of dishware come with a set of big plates and a set of small plates. Choose the smaller plate.
If you already have the two sizes of plates, all you have to do is get a set of smaller bowls.
2. Walk for Weight Loss Tricks
I feel that this is one of the easiest weight loss tricks and it is very underrated. There are some many circumstances where you can get more steps in.
You can park farther away from entrances, take the stairs, if you work at a desk get up and take a stroll, or even do a little walking in place while you watch TV.
When you walk, you burn calories. The more you walk, the more calories you burn.
And if you walk more than you usually do, those are extra calories that you weren’t burning before you upped your stepping game.
This leads to your weight loss. And to help keep track of your steps, I would suggest getting a fitness tracker. It takes the work out of keeping track yourself.
If you do not want to pay for an expensive tracker, there are many more affordable options out there. This one has many of the same functions as a Fitbit at a fraction of the cost.
3. Intermittent Fasting
If you are feeling a little ambitious and want to do a diet, but still want it to be pretty easy, intermittent fasting is the way to go.
Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern where you go between periods of eating and not eating.
You might be thinking, “well duh I already do this,” but the periods of not eating are longer than what you normally do.
For example, if you were to do 16-hour fasting, you could set your schedule from 11am to 7pm. That means your window to eat would be between 11am and 7pm. You have to stop eating by 7pm and can’t eat again until the next day at 11am.
This is just on type of fasting. If you want to know more about fasting, check out Intermittent Fasting: Is it for You?
Now the reason I suggest fasting is because you really don’t have to change much, just when you eat. You don’t need to count calories or measure out your food.
These are weight loss tricks at their easiest.
Because you limit your eating window, you tend to take in less calories as before. Which help you lose weight. Combine this with controlling your portions and your golden.
4. Don’t Drink Your Calories
This is one of those weight loss tricks that might be a little more difficult for some people.
We all enjoy beverages that are loaded with calories and sugars. Think about what you frequently drink.
Between soda, juice, coffee drinks, energy drinks, mixed drinks, and beers, there are so many different things we drink with empty calories.
Cut back on these drinks and replace them with water. If you need some energy, learn to love black coffee.
By cutting back on these drinks, you can significantly decrease the number of calories you are taking in.
5. Water is Your Friend
This tip goes along with not drinking your calories. When you are working on losing weight, water is always the best option.
There are many benefits to staying hydrated. By drinking water, you are boosting your metabolism and helping to suppress your appetite.
Increasing your metabolism helps you to burn more calories. And by not feeling as hungry you won’t be eating as much.
Getting a water bottle that helps you to track how much water you are drinking can really help to ensure you are consuming enough each day.
I know there are some people that aren’t a fan of water and want flavor. Try a water bottle where you can add fruit to infuse flavor into you water, like this one.
6. Meal Planning for Weight Loss Tricks
Meal planning sounds like it could be time consuming, but once you get into the routine of doing it, it really actually saves you time in the long run. And of course, it helps you to be healthier and move closer to that ideal weight.
Meal planning help you to lose weight because you are taking the time to decide what you will be having.
Instead of coming home from work, wandering around the kitchen, and deciding to order a pizza, you will have something healthier already planned.
This allows you to make healthier choices more often because you are never scrambling at the last minute to figure out what to eat.
It helps you to cut down on the ordering in or picking up fast food and gets you in the habit of picking those healthier options.

7. Grab and Go Snacks
If you are a person that snacks during the day, this is an extremely helpful trick.
What is it that you normally snack on?
I am not much for snacking, but when I see the other people in my office grabbing something, they usually take a trip to the vending machine and pick a candy bar or bag of chips.
Does that sound familiar?
Pick out some healthier options so you have something better than junk food to snack on.
It also helps for the times when you are in a rush and need something to hold you over. It’s much better to grab a good snack and go than to hit up a drive thru on your way.
8. Short Workouts
I know you are probably asking yourself how anything related to working out even made its way onto this list.
Well, if you are looking to lose weight, we all know that exercise is going to help. But you don’t have to spend hours several times a week to see results.
The same concept as walking more applies here as well. Every little bit counts.
So, try doing some short workouts. They can consist of anything you like to do and can be done right in your own living room.
If you aren’t much for working out, I suggest keeping your short workout easy by doing some planking, crunches, calf raises, and modified push-ups.
If you work your way to more, there are a ton of short HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workouts that can help you see results. Try this Beginner HIIT Workout to start!
9. Encouragement for Weight Loss Tricks
Many people struggle with weight loss and become easily discouraged when they don’t see the results they want.
This makes it very hard to use encouragement on themselves. But this is really an important aspect to your weight loss.
Without encouraging yourself, even if you aren’t seeing any result at all, makes it so easy to quit.
That reassurance helps you to keep going. Pushing yourself to stick with it.
Always tell yourself how great you are doing. If your cutting down on portion size, remind yourself how good you have been sticking to that. Or if you upped your steps, give yourself a pat on the back for reaching your step goal or for doing more than you used to.
10. Use the Buddy System
Aren’t most things more fun with a friend. If you are having trouble getting going on your weight loss, try starting with a buddy.
This will help you get started and stick with it because you will have another person to complement you on sticking with it. You will have them to keep you accountable. And they can provide a challenge if you want.
For example, many people do step challenges where they try to beat their friends in the amount of steps they take within a designated time frame.
Friendly competition can make things more fun and easier to do.
Just make sure your buddy also wants to work on their weight loss goals. Otherwise they might not provide the support you’re looking for.
